Easy Homemade Ornament Displays
Don’t you love a good trash to treasure project? I sure do. I recently came across a bunch of glass display stands at Goodwill, and since it was half off day I snagged them for $1 or less each. And while they were ok as they were, I knew I wanted to use them for the holiday season…this meant jazzing them up.

My new best friend is beach glass spray paint because it is easy to use and an inexpensive way to dress up clear glass. It was all I needed to make these DIY ornament display stands. Whether you want to display one ornament or six, these little stands are perfect for layering across a tablescape or buffet.
Would you like to make your own? Let’s get crafting. First things first, dig up any glass display stands you might have. This could include candy dishes, cake plates, and serving dishes.

I personally don’t worry too much if there are chips. Since you are only using these for display and not serving, the chips really don’t matter. Plus, the spray paint will cover the chips up making them less obvious.
Speaking of paint, let’s get working on that!
Where can I find beach glass paint?
The next thing you will need is beach glass spray paint. I adore this stuff. You can find it in either a blue or green shade. For this project I chose the green shade! You can find the same spray I used on Amazon here.
As you can see they make it in a variety of colors. Keep this spray in mind for all sorts of crafting needs! Choose your color and get next day shipping on Amazon here.

How to Spray Paint Glass
Apply two coats of paint, allowing the paint to dry well in between coats. When you are done, you will have these beautiful, frosted display dishes! They are so pretty, especially when you arrange a cluster together.
Now, clean the glass pieces off well so the paint adheres without issue. You want the dishes to be as clean and dry as possible prior to painting. Just use hot water if possible. If you need to use soap use Dawn or some other gentle cleanser that won’t leave residue.
Hold the spray paint 12 inches from the glass and start spraying small portions at a time. Keep the spray can moving so you aren’t focusing on one spot for too long. This will help you avoid drips.

All that is left to do now is fill the displays with ornaments! I used lots of vintage ornaments with pink hues because the pink and green look so pretty together. You of course can use any color combo you choose.
If you are worried about breakage, you can place some faux snow in the dishes before adding the ornaments. This will help give them some cushion and can prevent breaking.
Now all that is left to do is admire how gorgeous these DIY ornament displays look!

How to Display Vintage Ornaments
You can create a grouping of these DIY Christmas ornament display stands or you can even STACK THEM! If you wish to secure a stack you can use a super adhesive or extra strength hot glue to do so.
I went ahead and just stacked mine without adhesive because they are sturdy enough and I don’t need to worry about them toppling over. If you are concerned, adhesive is advised.
Look how sweet…

Are you ready to display your Christmas ornaments? This is such an easy and inexpensive way to do so. Give these DIY Ornament Display Stands a try and see how gorgeous they can make your space. Happy holidays!
